The environment is important to everyone. It needs to be taken care of for the good of our earth and the well-being of future generations. To foster environmental sustainability, it is important that people are aware of what is going on with their surroundings. This helps them make informed decisions about how to take better care of the world around them. This Marathi article focuses on the development and promotion activities in Maharashtra India over a period from 2013-2018. More importantly it also includes information about specific programmes like tree plantation drives during monsoon seasons, government awareness campaigns for Women's Day, World Earth Day celebrations etc... # Community Based Non-financial and Financial Incentives and institutional mechanisms to promote adoption of cleaner energy for cooking and lighting # Marathwada: Under the aegis of Goregaon Energy Efficiency Services Limited (GESCO), a joint venture between WCL, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd (MSEDCL) and the Government of Maharashtra, 1.89 million households in 89 talukas in eight districts were audited for energy efficiency. The study was undertaken in two phases. In Phase-I 1.4 million households were surveyed, while Phase-II covered an additional 509 villages in 52 talukas, thus covering around 1.5 million households. The study will look into the various impacts that are being faced by the society including economic impacts, agriculture related problems etc. over the coming years due to climate change. A team of experts from various disciplines is being formed to undertake the work. # To address the problems associated with saline water, various measures are being taken at the Central level viz. financial support, promoting R&D in improved technologies for post treatment of saline water etc., at State level under the revamped Mission on Integrated Development of Power, Coal, New & Renewable Energy Sources (MIDPO) Rs. 1000 crore has been earmarked for financing power projects based on clean coal technology. MIDPO will also give impetus to R&D activities in areas related to Clean Coal Technology including Cleaner Generation of Electricity using Clean Coal Technology and Cleaner transportation through CNG/LNG based vehicles using clean coal technology. eccc085e13
